Personal Experience
Jacob is studying at the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine to become a veterinarian. His role is essential in helping anesthetize patients, clipping, prepping, and moving them into the operating room. He is responsible for taking orthopedic-specific xrays and scrubbing into nearly every surgery. Once in the operating room his surgical assisting involves performing a sterile prep of patients, draping patients, sterilely opening packs/setting up the operating table, retraction of tissues, assistance with suction/cautery, and putting together drill parts during different stages of TPLO/fracture cases.
Jacob has experience operating in small animal clinics and emergency hospitals. He conducted respiratory research at the doctoral level, and his findings were published and presented at a conference. His excellent work earned him special scholarships and top ranking in his class. Jacob also played college football while studying at the University of North Dakota. These days, he enjoys running ultra-marathons that are over 50 miles and has a canine companion he trains in his spare time.
