What is Femoral Head & Neck Ostectomy?

Indications:

  • FHO involves removing the ball of the ball-and-socket joint of the hip.
  • Common indications include:

    • Antibiotics (e.g., claviseptin) and anti-inflammatories (carprofen, meloxicam).
    • Passive flexion/extension exercises maintain flexibility.
    • No strict exercise restriction; early mobilization is beneficial.

Benefits:

  • Pain Relief: Eliminates chronic hip pain.
  • Improved Mobility: Pets adapt well post-FHO.
  • Quality of Life: Minimal impact on limb function.
